Goodbye 2008...Welcome 2009!

Wednesday, December 31, 2008

I should make an entry about Maal Hijrah 1430 instead of New Year 2009, but at that time I was in the middle of something, so I couldn't get any idea to write. I think it's ok for me to write about Masihi Year.

Well, today is the final day of 2008, and in 2008, I had many (I mean MANY) memories. Sweet, bitter, salty, sour, etc etc. I consider them as my good memories. Do I need to list them out? No need I guess. It will waste your time and my time as well because they are soooo MANY.

In 2008 also, I have changed myself into a new person. Not totally changed but a bit by bit. The cause was something happened in the middle of 2008. I thank Allah for giving me the 'trouble' to make me realized that I was out of His path. I did istikharah many times to ask for His guidance and the result, is something that makes me become more confident to Him and to myself. What I need to do is just be patient.

Hopefully in 2009, Allah will grant my wishes. I know I'm not His good servant but I wanna be better and better. I will never give up on Him because that is what we should believe. Never give up on Allah because He is the Almighty. I said that because I have proof. I don't want to explain much about this because not many people can accept it.

So, hopefully in 2009, I can be a better servant, a better person and if Allah granted my wishes, insha Allah many new things will happen to me. Amin...

I wonder how? I wonder why?

Friday, December 26, 2008

This afternoon (Friday), I had lunch with my colleagues at McDonald's. We enterred the restaurant at about 1.15pm. While eating, there were 4 Malay men enterred the restaurant and the time was about 1.30pm. They chose a table near the entrance and talked happily. At 2pm, my colleagues and I went out of the restaurant and those guys were still talking and talking happily.

Another scenario, when I had lunch with my colleagues in Shakey's Pizza restaurant, on Friday, during Friday prayer time. A few Malay men, wearing office attire, enterred the restaurant with no shame. They chose a table at the center of the restaurant, and they ate, talked and laughed out loud with no shame. Some Malay women looked at them sinically but they were 'muka tembok'.

I wonder why those men didn't go to the mosque? Why they were so 'proud' sitting in the restaurant and act like nothing happened at that time? This scenario I've seen in many places. Fast food restaurant, shopping complex, cinema and etc etc. Malay men (I think they are Muslims) wandering around the shopping complex, or watching movie with their girlfriends, or having lunch with their colleagues during Friday prayer time.

I wonder how they can be so shameless? If they didn't perform their Friday prayer, how about their 5-times daily prayers? Friday prayer is once a week but still they neglected it. I cannot imagine how they can perform their 5-times daily prayers.

And those men with their girlfriends, I wonder why those girls (some of them wear tudung) don't force their boyfriends to perform their prayer? It's like the girls are very 'proud' when their boyfriends walk together with them or watch movie with them during that time. I am so ashamed by that.

Honestly, I totally respect those men who perform their prayer no matter where they are and what they do. When it comes to praying time, they will go to the musolla and fulfill their obligation. Some men I know personally are in this category and I am very proud of them. I hope they will be in this category forever and be very good Muslims. (^_^)V

Conversation between 2 housemates...

Saturday, December 20, 2008

Ojan and I just arrived at our block from our office but we wanted to go to the night market first. On the way to the night market, there was a bunch of men sitting (read: lepak) next to the stairs that we used to go to the night market. All of them looked at us and one of them gave salam (in the way of miang). Ojan didn't realize that but I knew he gave it to us because nobody was there at that time except us. So, here is our conversation after that:

Me: Ceh, kalo ada PhD baru boleh bagi salam. Kalo setakat lepak camtu, jangan mimpi.
Ojan: Diorang bagi salam kat kita ke?
Me: Ye la. Kita je yang lalu kat situ. Aku tengok belakang, takde orang pun. Kiri kanan depan belakang diorang pun takde sapa.
Ojan: Huish...gila ar kena ada PhD dulu. Hahahahaha.
Me: Ye la, kena la setaraf. Ok la, at least ada degree la tapi kena tengok la degree apa.
Ojan: Kalo degree dalam ukiran kayu ke, melukis batik ke, itu tak boleh la. Hahahaha.
Me: Tahu takpe. Kang mak aku cakap, "Apa?!!! Ukiran kayu?!!! Keluar kamu dari sini!". Huhu.
Ojan: Hahahaha. Memang tak boleh blah betul.
Me: Please la. Kutu lepak camtu. Cuba la buat aktiviti berfaedah sikit.

Then we went to the night market.

P/S: This story is a true story but no offence. I am a 'laser' person. Huhu~

Rita Rudaini (left) and Aidil Zafuan

Sebenarnya aku takde la minat sangat diorang ni tapi cerita diorang ni agak menarik. Huahuahua.

Fakta cerita:
  1. Berkahwin secara rahsia di Thailand pada 25 Februari 2008.
  2. Selama ni Aidil tu berlakon bujang depan family dan rakan-rakan sepasukan dia.
  3. Aidil baru nak bukak story pada 13 Disember 2008 lepas, tu pun mintak tolong kakak dia bagitaukan pada parents dia tapi kakak dia tak sanggup.
  4. Wartawan try contact Rita tapi tak berjawab lansung.
  5. Parents Aidil Zafuan terkilan dan kecewa giler tapi terpaksa terima hakikat.

Apa kes? Kalo kahwin lari, sapa yang bawak lari sapa? Kalo kahwin secara rahsia, perlu ke? Lantak diorang la. Hoho~

Menstrual cycle: Women's Nature

Sunday, December 14, 2008

A friend of mine requested this topic. So, I decided to write everything that I know about menses, in my own words and based on my knowledge and experiences. I won't write it like a scientific fact. So, if there is any mistakes or wrong facts, just tell me. Or you can add some too.

What is menstrual cycle?
Mense is a nature that happens in all women. It occurres in reproductive-age, starts when they reached their puberty (age 10-13 yrs) and ends when they get menopaus (age 50-55 yrs). The cycle is within 28 and 35 days. It depends on every individual. Like a fingerprint, every woman has different experience of the cycle. Some are quite fast, some are normal and some are a bit late. In some special cases, the cycle is only 14 days (I am very shocked too!) because irregular cycle is common in every woman. This cycle is controlled by 2 main hormones called, estrogen and progesterone, and a few other hormones.

What happened during the cycle?
In science, they only explain the 28-days cycle, but in real life, like I said earlier, different woman will have different experience because of the hormones. So, I'll explain the 28-days cycle only.

On the 1st day of the cycle, the menstrual blood colapses from the uterus wall. This happens within 4-7 days, depends on every inidividual. In some cases, it can be longer than that. After all menstrual blood has finished, then the blood will be accumulated again at the uterus wall. But it doesn't happen that fast. It takes some times to be thicker and thicker.

On the 13th to 15th days, the ovum or egg is released from ovary and this phase is called ovulation. Haaa...to all married men and those who are getting married, remember this time. It is the time to make baby, ok! Insya Allah. Then, when the egg is not fertilized by the sperm, it will be disintegrated or dissolved in the fallopian tube.

After that, the menstrual blood becomes thicker and thicker on the uterus wall until the level of progesterone falls. Then, the blood will be released and it is the beginning of the next menstrual cycle.

What's with the menstrual pain?
Menstrual pain or cramps are sharp pains in a woman's lower abdomen that occur when her menstrual begins. This pain may continue within 2-3 days, depends on individual. Symptoms can range in severity from a mild annoyance to severe pain that interfere in normal activities. Honestly, men cannot imagine how the pain is. It is undescribable.

Some women have mild pain, they can do any activities as usual. But in the case of severe pain, this may lead to nausea, vomit, migraine, gastric pain, or the worse is unconcious.

They can take pain killers to relieve the pain but actually it's not good for our body. Herbs can help but it can make our body 'hot' (in malay, badan jadi panas). The best way to relieve the pain is to drink honey with air suam, or drink 100plus, or do some mild exercises, or apply hot oil on the pain area and massage slowly, or tuam dgn air panas. DO NOT take paracetamols or it will become toxic to our body.

What's with the mood swing?
When women in this pain phase, don't ever make stupid jokes or tease them, or else, you will be scolded by them. What do you feel when you are accident and suddenly people make stupid jokes at you? Is it the right time to make jokes? No, right? For sure you will feel mad or 'hangin' with the person, right?

How to help women when they are in menstrual pain?
Easy. Just give attention (not too much and not too little), do whatever I suggest in the best way to relieve the pain, and DO NOT ever burden them with office works or house works. Guys (married men only), just take this time to help them. Only a few days a month (actually you should do it everyday to your wife to help them especially the house works!).

So, I think that is enough for me to say. I'll update this entry if I'm thinking of new things. Any enquiries, you may ask me in the comment. Thank you. (^_^)V

Chicken and duck...

Thursday, December 4, 2008

This morning was my postgraduate registration session.
My number was 159 and I have to wait for about 3 hours before my turn.
While waiting, I sat at the first row seats and there were 2 Malay women and a foreigner sat next to my right and left.

I chatted with the Malay women as well as the foreigner.
They asked me many things like I am in-charge for the registration.
About the fee, hostel, course registration, etc etc etc.
I was somewhere else at a time but I came back to the place (understand?)

Then the Malay women enterred the hall.
So, I chatted with the foreigner.
Owh, she is from Oman.

After a while, there was a foreigner came and sat next to me.
She wore black purdah and black abaya.
At first, we didn't talk or look at each other.
Then (maybe because both of us were started to be bored), she asked me about the university and my religion.
Well, I told her many things, this and that, and then she stopped me.

She said she is not good in English.
She is from Saudi Arabia and fluent in Arabic (of course!).
She took an English course for about 2 months but still not good in English.

Then we started to talk like a chicken and a duck*.
She spoke in Arabic and I spoke in English.
Then, both of us stopped talking and just waiting for our turn.
When my turn came, I just said Assalamualaikum to her and went off with a very beautiful smile.

While walking into the hall, I laughed to myself because it was the first time I talked like a chicken and a duck with a foreigner.
Ok, it was not funny but I laughed.

* A chicken and a duck = Seperti ayam dan itik (peribahasa Melayu, maksudnya: 2 orang yg bercakap berlainan bahasa dan tidak faham bahasa yg pihak lagi satu cakapkan).

My tiring day...

Tuesday, December 2, 2008

Today, a few matters made me tired.
Totally exhausted, like I have no more energy except to type this entry.
I have no appetite to have dinner.
I'm so tired to watch TV, plus, there is no good drama or show.
What were the matters that made me so tired like this?

  1. I went to work early today. Usually I arrived at my workplace at about 10 am but today, I arrived at 9 am. Ok, it was early for me. Hehe. After put my beg on the chair, I immediately prepared my first PCR reaction. Then I prepared my agarose gel for electrophoresis. After the first reaction done, I prepared for 2nd reaction. It means I did 2 PCR reaction today. For those who had done this thing, you know how tired I am to wait for 2 and a half hours for each reaction. The result? Negative. No bands appearred on the gel and I don't know why. So, disappointed.
  2. The furniture store sent my new bed and matress today. Owh, the items were sent to my rental house. But, actually they should sent those items yesterday (Monday) but because of the unavailability of lorry, they couldn't send them. So, they sent the items today in the afternoon. My rental house is a flat. The lorry driver couldn't find my block but they found the next block. So, I had to run to the next block to meet them and showed them the way to my block. Then I ran again to my block. Since I haven't involve in sport for a while, I was quite 'pancit'. Hehe~
  3. I hate this part. Traffic jam. Huh! I departed my workplace at 5 pm and I drove along the Batu Caves and then I enterred MRR2 Kepong at 5.15 pm. Suddenly there was a traffic jam along the MRR2. I had to change my gear, from 1 to 2 and then back to 1 and then brake. Move again with gear 1 and changed to 2 and brake again. Duhhhh~ My legs were like cramped and my right knee started to sound like 'pop' and 'crack' (it is injured for about 2 years). After 1 and a half hour, finally I enterred the exit to Damansara. I arrived at my home at 6.55 pm. The traffic jam was about 8km. And guess what was the actual cause? A broke down lorry on the 2 lanes road to Bandar Sri Damansara. So, only 1 lane was available and all cars have to 'berebut' to enter the only lane left. Siut!!!

So, now I am very tired.
I wanna sleep early tonight.
Tata~
